Marcus Tinsley: Upbeat Originals

More from this show

Marcus Tinsley is a singer and songwriter from Arizona whose talent earned him a spot on season 18 of “American Idol.” Tinsley joined “Playlist 48” to share the story of his musical journey, reflecting on how experiences like “American Idol” helped shape his artistry and refine his craft.

Tinsley got his start after a video of he and his daughter singing “True Colors” from the film Trolls went viral a year after they posted it. He said he found out the video went viral when he received calls from the producers of “Ellen,” “Little Big Shots,” “American Idol” and “The Voice.”

During his time on “American Idol,” Tinsley traveled from Arizona to Hollywood after receiving a unanimous “yes” from the judges, with the support of his wife, daughter and their family pigs.

Along with his own success, Tinsley is proud of his two pigs, Penelope Rose and Daisy Dukes, who have had deals with Netflix, ABC and “American Idol,” which led them to gaining half a million followers on social media.

Tinsley has released several of his own songs and signed his newest single, “Butterflies,” to Warner Bros., with many of his original songs airing on FM radio and Sirius XM since his time on “American Idol.”

Celebrated for his soulful voice and ability to connect with audiences, Tinsley works all different types of events, including weddings, restaurant gigs, celebration of live ceremonies, private parties and virtual concerts and has the ability to blend passion and authenticity in his music.

Tinsley also opens up about the challenges he has faced as a performer and how he continues to grow both personally and professionally.

From his soulful melodies to his relatable journey, Tinsley proves why he’s a rising star to watch in Arizona and beyond.
