Arizona PBS to host Arizona Corporation Commission Debate Oct. 11

PHOENIX – (Oct. 11, 2016)

WHAT:  Arizona PBS’s Emmy Award-winning public affairs program “Arizona Horizon” will host a Clean Elections debate, featuring candidates vying for three open seats on the Arizona Corporation Commission. Candidates will debate issues related to the commission, including utility regulation, solar power and recent controversies impacting almost all members of the commission.

WHO:  Arizona PBS will showcase the five candidates competing in the Nov. 8 Arizona general election for the Arizona Corporation Commission:

  • Robert “Bob” Burns – incumbent Corporation Commissioner (Republican)
  • Tom Chabin – former lawmaker (Democrat)
  • Boyd Dunn – former Chandler mayor (Republican)
  • William “Bill” Mundell – former commissioner and lawmaker (Democrat)
  • Andy Tobin – incumbent Corporation Commissioner (Republican)

Ted Simons, the award-winning host of “Arizona Horizon,” will moderate the debate.

WHERE:  Arizona PBS studios, 555 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004, Studio B, sixth floor (light rail accessible from Van Buren Street stop).

WHEN:  Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m. (candidates arrive 4:30 p.m.), live on “Arizona Horizon”

A media room will be set aside where credentialed members of the media can view the debate. Photo opportunities, as well as audio and video feeds for media, will be made available. Candidates may make themselves available for interviews following the debate.

The public can watch the debate live on “Arizona Horizon” on Arizona PBS at 5 p.m., with encore presentations at 10 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Arizona PBS World Channel – or the following day on our website www.azpbs.org/horizon or our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/azpbs.
