Lantern presents MATH: Fun, educational math activities for toddlers

Our partners at Lantern, formerly Bright by Text, offer a free service that sends tips and resources promoting early childhood development via text message. Lantern offers this free program to help provide families with fun, educational math activities.

MATH is an opt-in text message program for parents with a child aged 2 to 3 that will help teach toddlers core math skills. Sign up by texting the word MATH to 274448.

What is the MATH program?

Today’s toddlers are tomorrow’s designers, programmers and engineers!

Children under five thrive with a playful approach to math that engages them in exploring a problem. But it can be difficult to understand which math activities are appropriate for young children’s developmental capacities.

Math4Littles provides parents with a range of engaging play-based, parent-child activities that are aligned to the skills and growing capacities of two- and three-year-olds. These activities are designed to build young children’s early understanding of math concepts across six domains: counting, computation, spatial awareness, shapes, patterns and measurement.

Who helped to create the messages?

MATH messages were developed in collaboration with the American Institutes for Research and ZERO TO THREE.

How do I sign up?

All parents of a child aged 2 to 3 can by text the word MATH to 274448 or sign up on the Lantern website for free text messages, in English, Spanish or Arabic, with math activities that are fun, engaging and provide an age-appropriate introduction to early math concepts.

Ready for more?

Along with MATH, Lantern also offers, BOND, HEAR and COOK programs. Learn more about the various Lantern programs, and sign up for free.
