Arizona primary election results

The Arizona primary election took place on July 30, 2024. In this “AZ Votes” special, we provide analysis of the results from a Republican and Democrat perspective.

Kari Lake, Mark Lamb and Elizabeth Reye are the candidates representing the Republican party along side opponent Ruben Gallego representing the Democratic party.

Chuck Coughlin, President of HighGround, Inc., and Karl Gentles, Partner at The Gentles Agency, LLC, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the latest updates for this year’s election.

The difference between Kari Lake (53.3%) winning and Mark Lamb (40.6%) was only 13%.

“…I think most people thought that she would gut in the high 50’s and the 60’s. I didn’t think that, I said there was a lot of funding for Lamb that came in late from American Encore and others and…she’s been having a rough time ever since her debacle with the Republican party chairman and getting rid of him…she’s been having a hard time,” said Coughlin.

Former President Donald Trump supported both Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh, and it was a close race by only six points.

“I am a bit. Masters…had a bunch of money although he put in three million of his own dollars of the four million that I think he had so he really didn’t raise an awful lot of money. Abe Hamadeh ran apparently a good race…,” said Gentles.

Amish Shah (D) is leading the race for Congressional District 1 against opponents Kurt Kroemer and Andrew Horne.

“He’s a big name…the guy is the most liberal hardworking candidate in the field. Amish was a state legislator, an emergency room physician has a good reputation at the legislature and also has a wonderful reputation for working his tail off and knocking on a lot of doors and when you only need 15,000 votes to get ahead of the race you can knock on that many doors,” said Coughlin.
