Arizona Republican Congressional District 1 candidates Jay Feely and John Trobough joined Ted Simons as part of “Candidates in Conversation” to discuss major issues happening in Arizona.
“For me, the most important pressing issue is still the economy,” Feely said, “…we have to create business atmospheres that are conducive to bringing businesses here to create more jobs, to bring down the cost of affordability.”
Trobough also emphasized that one of his priorities is the economy, and he is most interested in what’s happening with the macroeconomics at a federal level.
“What happens over the next four or five years in Congress, and our ability to take advantage of the massive technology, growth, and expansion that we have in Arizona is key,” Trobough said. “For me, it’s about driving the Arizona economy, and how we’re going to grow.”
According to Trobough, he identifies with many of David Schweikert’s supply-side economic principles, including a balanced budget and addressing debt.
“…where I differentiate from David is where Arizona is today,” Trobough discussed. “We are the gatekeeper to the global economy, and I don’t think people understand that.”
Over the course of Jay Feely’s 14-year career, he served on the NFL Players Association Executive Committee and was the team player representative for multiple franchises.
“You have to handle failure, you have to be able to communicate, you have to not care what people think about you…and I think that the voters in Arizona will appreciate that,” Feely said.
After President Trump endorsed Jay Feely, he emphasized that Arizonans need a person who is going to be a civil servant and isn’t going to D.C. to enrich themselves.
“Not somebody like Joe Chaplik, like no-show Joe,” Feely said. “He missed more votes than anybody in the Republican house here in Arizona…he missed more days than anybody else… no-show Joe Chaplik is not the one that we want in office.”
