Arizona Attorney General Republican candidate Rodney Glassman

Republican Arizona Attorney General candidate Rodney Glassman joined Ted Simons as a part of our new “Candidates in Conversation” series to discuss his campaign.

“I’m running for Attorney General to protect our law enforcement, to protect our kids and to protect Arizona’s prosperity,” Glassman said. “Arizona is in a crazy place right now.”

Glassman said despite President Donald Trump winning Arizona by over five percentage points in the 2024 elections, the state has sued the Trump Administration 41 times over the last year. Glassman condemned Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) for her time in office as not being focused “on protecting Arizonans.”

Glassman added, “What I’ve said consistently is that because of the fact that Kris Mayes ran on suing President Trump, on suing to make sure that biological boys can compete against girls to create what I describe as a ‘resistance resume.’ Every single decision that Kris Mayes has made since she’s gotten into office is suspect because all she’s doing is attacking our Arizona way of life.”

Mayes is the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected Arizona Attorney General. In May 2023, Mayes condemned Arizona Senate Bill 1165, also known as the “Save Women’s Sports Act,” which prohibits transgender people from competing in sports that differ from their biological sex. A month later in a press release, she wrote that the office was “fully committed to enforcing” federal and state civil rights laws.

“Any time there’s a challenge where there’s an issue that Arizona needs an answer from the federal government, I’m going to pick up the phone,” Glassman said.

Glassman said if elected to the position of Attorney General, he would be different to Mayes because he would work to find a solution first before filing a lawsuit. Glassman added, “Every time that Kris Mayes feels that she can raise money, she files a lawsuit, she sends out a press release, and then she asks liberals across the country to send her money.”

The general election primary will take place on July 21, 2026, where Glassman and Warren Petersen (R) will represent the Republican party on the ballot while Mayes will represent the Democratic party.
