101-year-old author Sam Baker releases new book

More from this show

101-year-old Sam Baker is a children’s author who discovered his gift for writing around age 90. As a child, Sam struggled with reading, and he wanted to help kids who also struggled. With his personal understanding that the love of reading needs to start young, he dedicated himself to writing stories that any child could easily read and enjoy.

Before becoming an author, Baker served as a marine in WWII. A strong advocate for understanding and peace, these themes carry over to his stories. Listen to more of his story on “Our Voices.”

Baker’s first children’s book is the award-winning chapter book “The Silly Adventures of Petunia and Herman the Worm.” He has since continued to capture the hearts of both young and old with his whimsical, uplifting characters in his picture book, “Oscar the Mouse,” and its follow-up “Oscar Goes to the Vet.”

Baker currently lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.

You can find out more on Baker’s website.

And his books are also available on Amazon.
