Legislative update: Democrats

More from this show

Our weekly legislative update is with the Democrats. Each week we invite a state senator and a representative from a single party, either Republicans or Democrats, to join us to discuss the latest news.

Senator Juan Mendez (D) of District 26 and Representative Oscar De Los Santos (D) talked about current events in the Arizona legislature.

“We absolutely recognize we are in a housing crisis,” said De Los Santos. “You’re seeing eviction rates through the roof.”

In the coming days, De Los Santos and Mendez plan to release a bill that will cap corporate investors from purchasing homes at only 100 per year.

“We certainly are interested in seeing our housing supply increase and diversify without giving up any safety concerns,” said De Los Santos.
