Mobile barber offers haircuts for underserved

A hair care organization is hitting the streets.

ClipDart is a nonprofit providing free haircuts to communities with restricted access to haircare needs. David Rodriguez, Chief Strategy Officer of ClipDart, joined Horizon to tell us more.

Founder and CEO Kyle Parker came up with the idea after moving to Iowa and discovering he could not find a barber who could work with his type of hair. Parker realized how invaluable hair care is to self-esteem and mental health and launched ClipDart in response.

ClipDart partners with various service organizations and businesses to target all demographics to provide free monthly hair care services.

ClipDart has provided haircuts at colleges, elementary and high schools, nursing homes, and many other places and events throughout Arizona.

Maricopa County recently awarded ClipDart a grant to provide free haircuts to 15 different senior care facilities throughout the County this year. This is the first-ever County grant to be given to a hair organization in Arizona history.

“We are trying to focus on the most vulnerable, most underserved, underappreciated communities,” said Rodriguez.
