New children’s book series bridges generations

More from this show

A new children’s book series, “The Adventures of Grandma McBee,” takes young readers on a journey demonstrating that age is only a number when it comes to enjoying life.

The authors, Judy Danko Basham and Jacquie Dudo, joined “Arizona Horizon” to tell us more.

The books are a way to bridge generations and remind readers that love, laughter and adventure never grow old.

“You know what, believe it or not, the children have really been inspired by Grandma McBee. They’ve shown a lot of kindness and empathy and have just loved her and infatuated by her,” said Basham.

The story revolves around the main character Grandma McBee and her unforgettable trip to the hair salon. As she goes about her day, readers are reminded of the value of patience, respect for the elderly, and the never-ending joy of reconnecting with our grandparents.

“And you know, what it’s not just necessarily teaching empathy and understanding for our senior population but really to bring in kindness for all. That’s just the point of teaching. We’re molding the next generation,” said Basham regarding the importance behind the children’s book.

With Dudo teaching high school students and Basham teaching college students early childhood development, they understand the significance of children’s stories and their effect on the adolescence of a young child.
