Senior dog rescue in Scottsdale helps pups find forever homes

More from this show

Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary is Scottsdale’s only senior dog rescue group. Their mission is to help overlooked senior dogs in Arizona find their forever homes. The shelter has been rescuing and adopting out senior dogs since 2012. Some funding for Forever Loved comes from grants from organizations like Grey Muzzle Organization, which improves the lives of at-risk senior dogs by providing grant funding to animal welfare and other nonprofit groups nationwide.

Luisa Chocron, Executive Director and founder of Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss their mission. She was joined by Pickles, a 13-year-old senior pup who was found abandoned on the side of a highway.

“Pickles is a 13 year old mix. She came to us from northern Arizona. in 2024 thanks to the Grey Muzzle organization we were able to launch an initiative to reach out to a lot of the rural counties all throughout Arizona,” Chocron said.

Dogs at Forever Loved who were abandoned or tossed out as strays are incredibly resilient; they simply want a place to call home and people to love.

“If you see Pickles and you fall in love, you fill out an adoption application and then our adoptions team will reach out to you, chat with you on the phone, set up a meet and greet for you to actually meet her… and then from there we do just a quick home check and then we do a two week trial. If it all works out and you say yes, you sign on the dotted line and she is yours,” Chocron said.
