SRP and Turning Point; Alzheimer’s trial; First armless pilot

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Jeremy Duda, a reporter with Axios Phoenix, discussed why several high-profile groups are interested in the Salt River Project election. This comes after Turning Point USA, a conservative political group, deployed hundreds of workers to register voters and knock on doors ahead of the April 7 vote.

We also heard from Dr. Marwan Sabbagh, a behavioral neurologist at Barrow’s Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders Program, as the team gears up for Alzheimer’s clinical trials. The first trial will look at the effects of a bone cancer drug in those living with mild cognitive impairment. The second trial will involve a drug used to treat multiple sclerosis.

Finally, Jessica Cox, the world’s first licensed pilot without arms, shared her story of defying expectations in her book, “Disarm Your Limits.” Cox was born with out arms and has learned how to go about her daily life using her feet instead. She has not only earned her pilot’s license but also surfs, scuba dives, rides horses and travels the world as a motivational speaker and advocate for people with disabilities.
