Throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, artists from Latin America have embraced photography as a means of capturing their surroundings, documenting episodes of social injustice and political upheaval and constructing images of national identity. Jim Ballinger, Phoenix Art Museum Director, talks about these photographs and artists in a new exhibition.
