His work and writings explore revolution and rebellion, movement and migration, and colonization and violence in Ireland, Britain, and America.

Patrick’s 2023 book, The Age of Atlantic Revolution – The Fall and Rise of a Connected World is the topic of this episode, and Henry and Patrick discuss why America was an exception, not only in becoming a nation-state, but also a democracy, in the turbulent 18th and 19th century Atlantic world.
