Videos of 75 Guest-Reviewed Restaurants from Emmy Award-Winning Show
On Eight, Arizona PBS Available Free to Everyone via Mobile Devices

PHOENIX…November 21, 2012…Sound familiar? You’re shopping at the mall, scouting the best holiday lights or applauding your child’s holiday pageant – and suddenly, it’s time for dinner!

This holiday season, finding a restaurant on the go with the “right” menu, location and price is as convenient as your mobile phone or tablet. Simply visit azpbs.org/checkplease for free access to videos of 75 locally owned Valley eateries featured on Check, Please! Arizona. The Emmy Award-winningrestaurant-review program airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. on Eight, Arizona PBS.

“Now Arizonans out and about during the holidays can quickly decide where to dine by watching free video reviews on their phones or tablets,” said Kelly McCullough, General Manager of Eight, Arizona PBS. “These short, Emmy Award-winning videos immediately put 75 of the Valley’s top restaurants in the palm of your hand, anytime, anywhere. It’s a way for Eight to help de-stress the holidays and encourage everyone to dine at restaurants reviewed on our show.”

Currently, 49 percent of the traffic to Eight’s mobile website at azpbs.org goes to the Check, Please! Arizona page. The 75 episodes, which include three restaurants in the Sedona area, also can be watched on other devices at azpbs.org/checkplease/results.

Each week, Check, Please! Arizona features a trio of guests who dine and then review three local restaurants they recommended to each other. James Beard award-winning chef Robert McGrath, also recipient of an Emmy, hosts the half-hour program. Season three premieres Thursday, January 3 at 7 p.m.

More than 800 viewers nominated restaurants to be considered for Check, Please! Arizona in the show’s first two seasons. To appear on the show, viewers must nominate their favorite eatery (restaurant, supper club, diner, lunch cafe, dive, hole-in-the-wall, food truck, etc.) at azpbs.org/checkplease.
