Arizona PBS hosts panel discussion and pre-screening of "Voces: Now en Españ ol"

WHAT: Eight, Arizona PBS will celebrate the achievements and talents of Latinas working in the entertainment industry during its pre-screening of “VOCES: Now en Español,” featuring a live panel discussion with local Latinas discussing their unique experiences, challenges and achievements, at Burton Barr Central Library Pulliam Auditorium, (1221 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004), April 21 from 6-8 p.m. Eight’s Education team will also offer participants the chance to use translation equipment, including headsets and monitors, to translate Eight programming. Light refreshments will be served during the event.

“VOCES: Now en Español” follows the trials and travails of five hard-working Latina actresses who dub “Desperate Housewives” for Spanish language audiences in the United States, sharing how the five dynamic women struggle to pursue their Hollywood dreams while balancing the responsibilities of paying rent and raising children. WHO:  Eight’s panel discussion, moderated by Yvonne Pastor, Latino Institute Education Chair, will include Maria Jesus Cervantes, Chicanos Por La Causa, Araceli De Leon, NBC Universal, Carmela Ramirez, City of Phoenix Arts & Arizona performer, and Michelle Santillan, Campesina Radio Network/ Cesar Chavez Foundation, will discuss their experiences and perspectives as Arizona Latinas in media & entertainment. Live music will be provided by Carmela beginning at 5 p.m.

WHEN:  Tuesday, April 21, from 6-8 p.m., live music & refreshments beginning at 5 p.m.
