True Concord: Seasons

More from this show

On this episode of Arizona Encore, we’ll highlight the artistic achievements of True Concord Voices and Orchestra just ahead of their 20th anniversary season. The ensemble was founded in Tucson in 2004 with a unique commitment to poetry. The name is inspired by a line in a sonnet by William Shakespeare.

This show features a 2018 performance of a work by Arizona composer Gerald Near, setting poetry of Emily Dickinson to his original music. This episode begins with selected excerpts of the group’s performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring different violin soloists from within the orchestra.

Featuring performances by True Concord Voices and Orchestra; Eric Holtan, conductor; Freya Creech, violin; Ellen Chamberlain, violin; Benjamin Nisbet, violin; Erika Burkhart, soprano.
