Manhattan Chamber Players at Grand Canyon Music Festival – Re-Air!

More from this show

This week on “Arizona Encore,” enjoy a re-air from September 2023.

On this episode of “Arizona Encore,” the Manhattan Chamber Players trade in the soaring, glistening skyscrapers of New York for the rugged and profound beauty of the Grand Canyon Music Festival. We’ll hear two of their outstanding performances from the 2022 season.

The program starts with a well-known and well-loved string quartet by Mozart and concludes with a rare gem of chamber music: the “String Quartet No. 2” by Anton Arensky. String quartets seldom play this piece because it requires two cellists. But it has so much to enjoy with its catchy melodies, hints of folksongs, exciting sections where the performers pluck instead of bow their instruments and a fascinating backstory.

Tune in on Tuesday at 7 for a familiar favorite and a delightful musical discovery on this episode of “Arizona Encore.”
