The Chefs

On this episode of “Check, Please! Arizona,” three local chefs step out of the kitchen and take the stage to recommend Arizona restaurants where they like to dine.

Chef Pornsupak ‘Cat’ Bunnag selected First and Last. Managing partner Ashley Hammond said guests get to explore the four seasons through their rotating menu. She said to go along with their meal, they offer an extensive and carefully crafted cocktail menu. Shorthand for “I love you,” First and Last spreads the love with its romantic atmosphere for evening guests.

Chef Charleen Badman selected Essence Bakery. Backed by a full kitchen of women, chef and owner Eugenia Theodosopoulos said the bakery is a community for those who love good food and good company. She said guests can find a case filled with pastries to try right as they walk in and a menu that has something for everyone.

Finally, we finish off the episode with chef Beau MacMillan’s pick, Pizzeria Virtù. Chef and Owner Gio Osso said guests can enjoy a slice of Italy with their elevated pizza experience. He said it was important for them to incorporate the Southern Italian culture and tradition, leading to almost 80% of their ingredients being imported from Italy.
