Charter vs. District School Performance

More from this show

A recent U.S. News and World Report ranking for Best High School has BASIS charter schools claiming the top five spots in Arizona and five of the top spots in the top ten best high schools nationwide, including spots 1-3. However, the Grand Canyon Institute did an analysis that points to location and demographics as being one of the drivers of the success of BASIS, and that more attention should be paid to high-performing district public schools, which take in a wider variety of students and are often located in lower socio-economic areas. Dave Wells, research director of the Grand Canyon Institute, will tell us about the analysis. (guest pending)
