Tax increase proposed to support education

The former head of Governor Ducey’s Classrooms First Initiative Council is calling for a tripling of a state sales tax to fund education. Jim Swanson, the CEO of Kitchell Corporation, sent out a letters to other businessmen, proposing a 1.5 cent sales tax for Proposition 301, a voter-approved law that imposes a .6 cent sales tax to fund education and that expires in 2021. Swanson will talk about the proposal.
