Arizona nonprofit growth on the rise

More from this show

Charitable donations have steadily been increasing in the state, particularly for animal and environmental groups, according to a coalition of Arizona nonprofits.

Since 2012, donations have been on the rise, and according to Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits CEO Kristen Merrifield, social media has been a major factor in helping small nonprofits grow. Giving Tuesday, for example, is an annual occurrence that raised approximately $177 million in 2016, is a movement that started online, and grew to prominence with its use of the #GivingTuesday hashtag.
