Marijuana Special – Medical

More from this show

As of April, more than 197-thousand patients have qualified for a medical marijuana card in Arizona. By far the largest number of people register with chronic pain at over 173 thousand patients. Cancer patients make up just over four thousand medical cards and about 24 hundred people with post-traumatic stress disorder have registered for a card. Other qualifying diseases include seizures and glaucoma. So, how does cannabis work to ease some of these conditions? Producer Amanda Vinicky from WTTW in Chicago explores the plant’s promise and pitfalls.
