How heat damages Arizona Saguaros

Record heat has been dangerous not only for people but for desert plants as well, including Saguaro cacti. Many Saguaros are suffering dehydration and heat-related stress.

At the Desert Botanical Garden, three of more than 1,000 saguaro cactuses have toppled over or lost an arm recently, a rate that officials there say is highly unusual.

Today we talked to Kevin Hultine, Director of Research in the Department of Research, Conservation and Collections at the Desert Botanical Garden.
