Joining “Arizona Horizon” for a panel discussion were registered voters, Marcia Barry, Paula McKey and Melanie Warren. Ted Simons, Host and Managing Editor of “Arizona Horizon,” led the panel discussion.
The aim of the panel discussion is to have a conversation with older voters about topics relevant to the election.
The conversation highlights why health care is a critical issue for older voters and explores how it influences their priorities at the polls.
“I think that the future in health care and knowing that I have access to quality healthcare is very important to me,” Barry said. “What I am hearing is encouraging, supporting younger families, which enables those individuals to then support aging parents and family members.”
Medicare has become a major topic during this election, as many older voters are concerned for the future.
“I wish I had more information when I started on Medicare. I really didn’t know what I was getting into,” Warren said. “So I think information is key. That’s what got me to really make an effort of that.”
Many older voters also worry about scams and fraud associated with social media and health care.
“It’s very scary because it’s so easy to get trapped into. Something pops up on your laptop, and you’re like, ‘Oh well, that looks interesting.’ Then you go down this rabbit hole,” McKey said. “The continuing care, the funding and the inflation, and the cost are more talked about than scams.”
This discussion delved into the reasons these concerns are at the top of their list and how it may shape their participation in the upcoming election, offering insights into the voting behavior of this influential demographic.
