Chase Field opens sensory room for fans with autism & sensitivities

A sensory room is now open at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The sensory room is located on the Diamond Level in left field. The room will feature sensory toys, interactive elements, comfortable seating, soundproofing and a trained fleet of staff to assist visitors.

Gabriela Salcido, CEO and co-founder of Roman Empire Agency (REA), who designed the room alongside her husband, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the new addition to the stadium.

For fans who wish to enjoy the game from their seats, the room will provide sensory items such as fidget toys and noise-canceling headphones.

REA also designed a sensory room at State Farm Stadium, which opened in September 2024, offering a space dedicated to providing a sensory-friendly experience for fans with autism or sensory sensitivities.

“We offer a calm environment for anyone that need a little break from the bright lights or the loud noises,” said Salcido about the functions of the new sensory room.

Not only is the sensory room helping in baseball games, but also in other sports venues. With this new sensory room located in Chase Field, Salcido hopes to have more sensory rooms in more stadiums and arenas around the country.

“Right now we are in the Autism Society, one in three children, a lot of the large scale values need to offer that. Whether it is a baseball or a football game, it’s for everyone to enjoy,” said Salcido.
