High school chronic absenteeism hits 34%, Helios report shows

Helios has released its first chronic absenteeism report, revealing that over 34% of high school students miss 10 or more school days each year. Students in low-income areas and those attending online high schools experience the highest rates.

Helios Senior VP and Carl Hayden High School Principal Julio Rubio joined Arizona Horizon, whose school faces a 61% chronic absence rate, about strategies to improve attendance and support students.
