What Arizona businesses expect from the upcoming legislative session
Jan. 5
Leaders in the business community joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss what they hope will come out of the Arizona Legislature this session.
Joining the show is Danny Seiden, President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Todd Sanders, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
“Our hope is that the policies that we push for,” Seiden said, “…all these moves that are meant to strengthen our economic competitiveness, that they’ll continue to support these things.”
Sanders emphasized how Arizona’s economy is outperforming almost every economy in the entire country.
“We want to make sure that we’re not having policies swings to the left or the right,” Sanders said, “…that we’re staying true up the middle, dealing with the budget deficit, and doing the budget in a way that goes back to the traditional approach.”
Sanders explained how important it is for the state to continuously be prioritizing the workforce, as they are the most crucial aspect of the state’s economy
“…but for us the biggest issue is making sure that you’re making the proper investment in education, and post-secondary education so that you have the workforce that’s necessary to power this economy,” Sanders said.
Seiden emphasized how the biggest issue facing Arizonans is affordability, as inflation continues to rise across the country.
“With affordability being everything heading into the next election cycle,” Seiden said, “…we can’t do anything that makes it more expensive for Arizonans…we do what we can to reduce regulations so that we can build more houses…grow our businesses faster, and attract more jobs.”
