Trump Wins SCOTUS cases, Iran War & Global Economy, Tiffani Jaseph wins 2026 Teacher of the Year

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” we sit down with Elizabeth Chatham from Stinson LLP and Evelyn Cruz, a professor at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law to discuss how the Supreme Court gave President Trump major wins on two immigration cases. The president can end temporary deportation protections for some foreign nationals and can restart a controversial asylum policy. It also made way to end temporary deportation protections for hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals from Haiti and Syria who have endured war and natural disasters, while also clearing the way for the Trump administration to revive a controversial policy that aims to curb the number of migrants that officials at the southern border must process to determine whether they have a right to seek safe haven in the US.

We also learn about the impacts the War with Iran has had on the global economy, with Dale Rogers, a professor at the W.P. Carey. School of Business. The near-shutdown of the oil pipeline has shifted who the big energy leaders are and what energy is being used. Places like South Korea and Japan are now switching to coal, and in many places, there is a shift to solar or electric vehicles. Relations among producers are also changing.

Finally, Tiffani Jaseph, who was awarded Arizona Teacher of the Year 2026, sits down with “Arizona Horizon” to discuss her award and her career as a teacher. Jaseph holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Arts in special education, both from the University of Arizona. Jaseph has spent the past 15 years as a teacher, as she began her career in general education before discovering her true passion in special education.
