SCOTUS rules on transgender athletes, limits on campaign finance for candidates
July 1
More from this showThe U.S. Supreme Court ruled on two major cases, one being in favor of state laws that put a ban on transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports, with the court striking down campaign finance rules that place limits on spending by a national political party committee for individual candidates.
The Court also allowed the Trump Administration to proceed with a cancellation of the temporary protected status program for two countries, Haiti and Syria. This ruling reiterated that the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security has the power to cancel or grant this status and that it is not up to the Court, which could potentially impact many other beneficiaries.
Roy Herrera, Founding Partner of Herrera Arellano LLP, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the impact these ruling have and what to expect moving forward.
