Chef Silvana Salcido Esparza opened Barrio Cafe in 2002 in the “Calle 16” neighborhood. Located in Central Phoenix, “Calle 16” is becoming known as a cultural district filled with murals.

Esparza uses French technique and inspiration from regional specialties to create her own brand of Mexican cuisine. She has been a James Beard semi-finalist and has been inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame.
