Australian Pink Floyd Show

More from pressroom

EIGHT, ARIZONA PBS

While Pink Floyd may have broken up in 1996, the musical and visual concert experience of one of rock music's most iconic groups can still be experienced today through the musical prowess of Australian Pink Floyd. The Australian Pink Floyd Show: Live from the Hammersmith Apollo re-airs Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. on Eight, Arizona PBS.   During the broadcast, Eight, Arizona PBS will be offering exclusive tickets to viewers who support the station to see Australian Pink Floyd when they make their Arizona appearance in 2012.

Australian Pink Floyd, the worldwide-touring tribute band, returns to public television with their most extravagant special to date. The Australian Pink Floyd Show: Live from the Hammersmith Apollo , is a new concert special bursting with Pink Floyd's most beloved songs set to cinema-quality 3D visual animation and film . Taped in front of a sold-out London audience on July 17, 2011, the one-hour concert features everything a true “AFP” fan expects: an astonishing note-for-note rendering of Pink Floyd's music, evocative atmosphere, lasers, explosions, inflatable pigs and even Skippy the Kangaroo (the band's pseudo mascot). The show offers stunning performances of classics like Wish You Here , Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) and Comfortably Numb , and more.

These unprecedented concert visuals and cutting-edge effects have been described by concert go-ers and music aficionados as what Pink Floyd would be doing if they were still touring today.

Featuring founding members Steve Mac and Jason Sawford, the band has been performing the Pink Floyd catalogue for more than 20 years and has played to more than three million fans worldwide.   Lovingly curated, the band's live sets are packed with the fans' favourite Floyd classics from across the years that otherwise would simply not be heard together in a concert setting.

Even the original members of Pink Floyd have weighed in with positive reviews of their musical doppelgangers. Former Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason called the group “very good, probably better than we are.” And David Gilmour hired the group to play his 50th birthday celebration, saying that they were “ a show that truly embraces the Floyd legacy .” The group is simply a master of their craft, as comprehensively demonstrated with this new, stunning television special and live tour.
