Central Sound at Eight to provide production of musical performance audio recordings for KBAQ-FM, television broadcast and new media

PHOENIX –– (Nov. 21, 2013) Eight, Arizona PBS unveils centrally located audio and media production hub, Central Sound,  providing an array of audio and new media-related services dedicated to capturing classical and acoustic music performances of the highest professional caliber. Central Sound at Eight, originally KBAQ Production Studio, will highlight notable musical events in the community, bringing concerts of internationally acclaimed artists, performances by leading ASU faculty and the next generation of young musicians to thousands of listeners through audio and video recordings mastered for broadcast, including productions in surround sound. Additional service offerings include audio production and mastering of audio books, CDs, Blu-ray, and online media, in addition to radio and television broadcasts.

Central Sound at Eight, launching January 2014, aims to preserve the authenticity of Arizona’s quintessential sounds by continuing to produce and record programs for KBAQ-FM, including “Southwest Season Ticket,” airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and “ASU in Concert,” airing Thursdays at 8 p.m., while incorporating new series of programs that will focus on specific artists, venues, music festivals and performing arts organizations.

The “Southwest Season Ticket” series premiering in 2014 will feature programming that showcases all of Arizona and the Southwest through unique partnerships Eight has developed across the region, including:

Additionally, throughout 2014, Central Sound at Eight will offer an array of new and expanded services available to performance artists and organizations, producers and broadcasters, including:

  • On-location recording services (including in surround)
  • Premium production of audio books, CDs, Blu-ray, online media, radio and television broadcast
  • Surround sound production and mastering
  • Audio for video production
  • Voice recording and production

Central Sound at Eight will air programs on KBAQ-FM, Eight Classical (over-the-air channel 8.4), which simulcasts KBAQ-FM, and online. Programs available online via on-demand streaming will also feature parts of performances not broadcast on-air.

Central Sound at Eight’s production studio features state-of-the-art technologies, making it possible to produce high quality sound recordings and services in surround sound, and will continue to evolve in implementing the latest technologies.
