Working Forward: The Reverend and The Rabbi

More from this show

Arizona’s diverse communities, from vibrant urban centers to small, rural towns, are rich in culture, history and tradition. But in a time when division often dominates headlines, the question remains: How can we strengthen community bonds and find unity across differences?

“Working Forward” host Kathleen Bade explores how faith leaders in Arizona are working to unite people through shared values, purpose and belonging. The conversation dives into the role of compassion, justice and spiritual growth as vital foundations for healing divisions and bringing about lasting change.

The discussion is framed by the WorkingNation documentary “The Reverend and The Rabbi,” which examines how interfaith dialogue can break down barriers between groups often seen at odds. The film highlights the tensions that have historically existed between Blacks and Jews as well as Christians and Jews, and how these conflicts can obscure the deeper struggles and values that once united them.

Listen in as two local pastors, a rabbi and the film’s executive producer share powerful insights on how faith communities can rise above division to create connection. Together, they discuss what it means to build community across lines of belief and identity, and why doing so is more urgent than ever.

This episode is about more than religion; it’s about understanding, listening and rediscovering the bonds that connect us. It challenges us to see how faith-based fellowship can be a force for inclusion, healing and transformation in Arizona and beyond.
