Writing Contest Winners 2023
This year’s Arizona PBS Writing Contest sponsored by Primavera Online School® is complete! The theme for the contest was the school of the future. View the winners and each of their entries below.
And the winners are…
Primavera Online School® and Arizona PBS are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Writing Contest. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade were invited to imagine what the future of school might be like by writing and/or illustrating a fiction or nonfiction story. The individual entry winners were awarded:
- First place: Thinkpad and $100 savings bonds
- Second place: POGO Pass and $50 savings bonds
- Third place: 3D drawing pen and $25 savings bonds
After receiving over 100 entries, we’re excited to announce that the winners are:
Fun times with author Phoebe Fox
Winners were also able to join us for a celebration of their work at Arizona PBS’ studios, where they met children’s book author Phoebe Fox of Mamafox Books who read her book, “Julian Blooms,” for us.
With a BA in Early Childhood Development and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction, Fox is a former teacher and elementary school librarian, now an author of books for children. She is a native Arizonan, currently living, writing and reading in north central Phoenix with her husband, three sons, a golden retriever and a golden doodle. She is also the host of Mamafox Books’ Storytime Saturdays on YouTube!
The winners took a tour of Arizona PBS’ studios, shared some adorable “Sesame Street”-themed cupcakes and participated in a fictional character development workshop, as well as receiving their prizes!
Through this contest, we met our goal of promoting literacy, creativity, writing skills and creating excitement about education in our community.
