ASU Research Review: Butterflies – The Eye of the Beholder

More from this show

ASU professor Ron Rutowksi, who specializes in animal vision and behavior, has been studying butterfly vision for more than 25 years. Supported by the National Science Foundation and its Swedish counterpart, the research by Rutowski and his collaborator, Eric Warrant of Lund University in Sweden, has uncovered much of the structure behind butterfly vision. Understanding that structure has helped the scientists explore how vision might affect animal behavior in the wild.
