Lawmakers’ voting records, disagreements with Trump appointments

More from this show

Senator Bill Cassidy (R) of Louisiana is a doctor, firmly for vaccines and was publicly against the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s appointment as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Senator Cassidy happens to be up for re-election.

After talks with Vice President JD Vance, Kennedy asserted he would not undermine the public’s belief in vaccines, so Vice President Vance voted for him.

Chuck Coughlin, CEO and President of HighGround LLC, and Karl Gentles, a Partner at Gentles PR, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the voting records and the latest developments.

Several other GOP members have struggled with agreeing to vote for the nominees put forth by the Trump Administration. Senator Todd Young (R) of Indiana was struggling with Tulsi Gabbard as the nominee for U.S. Director of National Intelligence.

Are lawmakers capitulating to President Trump?

Senator Young said Trump told him to “vote his conscience.” And Young said Vice President Vance also spoke with him. Meanwhile, Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday that Senator Young was a deep state puppet, then deleted the tweet and called him a great ally.

Arizona Senators Mark Kelly (D) and Ruben Gallego (D) both have voted for certain orders or backed issues put forth by President Trump, and their constituents are not happy.
