Monsoon and record summer heat; Maricopa County’s Workforce Development Division; new novel titled ‘Plastic Shaman’

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Randy Cerveny, a professor and climatologist at Arizona State University, discussed how climate change and weather events like El Niño affected Arizona’s seasons. El Niños occur every few years, changing temperatures and rainfall globally.

We also heard from We also heard from Jared Beard, Assistant Director of Maricopa County’s Workforce Development Division (WDD), who discussed how they help the community find jobs in an AI-driven economy. The WDD has two career centers and nine community-based locations across the valley where residents can get a jumpstart to in-demand careers.

Finally, Author Annette McGivney discussed her new release, “Plastic Shaman,” and the tragic details of a deadly case in Sedona. The book explores how James Arthur Ray led a group of 50 up to Sedona for a wellness retreat where three people would die under extreme conditions.
