Fat Olives: Arizona’s authentic napoli-style pizzeria

More from this show

Fat Olives in Flagstaff stands as one of only four VPN (Vera Pizza Napoletana) certified pizza places in Arizona, delivering an authentic taste of Naples in the heart of the mountains. The wood-fired oven, imported from Italy, adds to the traditional charm that sets this pizzeria apart. Owner John Conley, a long-standing figure in Flagstaff with decades of experience, brings the essence of Naples to Arizona. Notably, Conley also owns the well-regarded Mexican restaurant Salsa Brava.

The star of Fat Olives is, undoubtedly, the pizza. Crafted in the traditional Naples way, it proudly earned a VPN certification, a mark of authenticity. Guests, including Randy McGrane from “Check, Please! Arizona,” have praised the buffalo and margherita pizzas, describing them as “perfect.”

However, Fat Olives offers more than just pizza. Lasagna and other pasta dishes grace the menu, providing a variety that complements the pizzeria’s main attraction. According to owner Kaiti Dupoy, the key to their success lies in people—creating a welcoming atmosphere for patrons.

Pamela Carter, another guest on “Check, Please! Arizona,” ordered the cannoli and expressed sheer delight, stating that “the filling was absolutely delicious.” Carter enthusiastically recommends Fat Olives as the go-to place for happiness, emphasizing that there’s something for everyone.

Fat Olives stands not just as a pizza haven but as a community-driven establishment, where the authentic flavors of Naples meet the warmth of Arizona hospitality. Visit Fat Olives for a taste of tradition and leave with a heartwarming experience that goes beyond just pizza.
