Arizona Town Hall to take on criminal justice reform
Aug. 28, 2018
A report produced by Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute for the Arizona Town Hall details ways that Arizona’s prison and sentencing system can reduce incarceration rates and costs to taxpayers. The report shows that although crime rates have gone down a third since 2006, incarceration rates have gone up in Arizona, with the state having the fourth-highest incarceration rate in the nation.
We hear from Dan Hunting of the Morrison Institute, who worked on the report as well as Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and noted sentencing expert Cassia Spohn, director of the ASU School of Criminal Justice.
