Shane Doan’s new role with the Arizona Coyotes

Shane Doan talked about his new role with the Arizona Coyotes as Chief Hockey Development Officer. He is also seen as a strategic adviser to the owner, Alex Meruelo, and GM, Bill Armstrong. Doan is a retired Arizona Coyotes’ Forward. He played 21 seasons with the Coyotes, and he came with them in 1996 when Phoenix acquired the team from Winnipeg. He is the longest-serving captain in the NHL. His number, 19, was retired in 2019. He has been advising the NHL since 2017!

He will be reporting directly to Coyotes’ President Xavier Gutierrez. Doan said he’ll be going into this low key and helping anyone that needs it. He thinks the Coyotes need to be more involved in the Valley and is actively working to boost the team’s presence. Additionally, he discusses the team’s biggest challenges right now — including how the pandemic has impacted NHL around the country and here in Arizona.
