Arizona Opera launches initiative to develop next generation of opera

More from this show

The Arizona Opera is working to expand and diversify audiences statewide through its NextGen initiative.

The NextGen initiative encompasses a variety of programs aimed at engaging and developing the next generation of artists, audiences and supporters of opera.

Some programs include bringing opera performances to schools around Arizona. Another program allows Studio Artists (adults aspiring to be opera singers) to receive training and professional experience to strive toward a career in opera. These in-resident artists get to perform on the main stage but also engage with communities across the state.

Cassie Hollerbach, Director of Education and Community Engagement, and Sedona Libero, a Mezzo-soprano 1st Year Studio Artist, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the details of the NextGen initiative.
