New book ‘The Rehab Playbook’ aims to help with addiction

The President of The Meadows has released a new book called “The Rehab Playbook,” which aims to decode addiction treatment. Nine out of ten people who need treatment never make it through the door. For them, navigating the rehab world can feel like a maze of unknowns. Where do you start, who do you trust, and how do you know if it will work?
Part personal story, part guide, and part industry insider’s view, Vinck offers step-by-step guidance, expert insights, and the compassionate clarity that families have been searching for, all the while donating a portion of the book proceeds to the American Addiction Research Foundation. “The Rehab Playbook” was released in September and sold out on Amazon within the first week.
Jaime Vinck, Author of “The Rehab Playbook” & President of The Meadows, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss her brand-new novel.
“I’ve been in the addiction treatment business for 20 years, and I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that…one in ten people who struggle with addiction get treatment,” Vinck said. “My goal was to write a book that really touched the other nine who aren’t getting treatment.”
Vinck, who is also a clinician, explained why there are several reasons why a person dealing with addiction doesn’t go for treatment. She wanted to address them not only for the people struggling, but also for their loved ones.
“Post-COVID, there’s so many additional virtual services, and that’s great,” Vinck said, “…folks don’t understand what they need…people don’t understand what their resources are, and what’s available through their insurance.”
Vinck emphasized it’s important for one struggling with addiction to reach out to their insurance provider and seek what benefits are covered.
“There’s a lot of stigma still out there about mental illness, about addiction, that somehow we’re broken,” Vinck explained, “…the approach I take is we are not broken, it’s not what we’ve done, it’s what’s happened to us.”
