President Trump’s popularity among GOP declines

More from this show

President Donald Trump’s popularity is starting to wane among his following and others in the GOP. Issues like the economy, the war in Iran, immigration, building the White House ballroom and discoveries in the recently released Epstein files are not sitting well with MAGA supporters.

Polling shows President Trump’s popularity has reached all-time lows as the country moves toward a hotly contested primary season. Polling also shows young MAGA and GOP supporters are starting to turn away from the President and looking toward other candidates to support.

Chuck Coughlin, President of HighGround, Inc., joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss these changes among conservatives and what they mean for the GOP going forward.

While Trump’s approval rating hovers near the 40% mark, many Americans feel the economy is in a sorry state, “Everybody knows ‘Hey, I’m paying 5$ a gallon of gas, I am driving down the road, I see that every single day.’ The cost of Diesel is up which affects the cost of food which affects the cost of everything else. so everything is up,” Coughlin said.

Meanwhile, these problems people are seeing at home are having tangible impacts on his approval ratings, “He is getting crushed amongst democrats, obviously, 90 to 10 and getting crushed like 80 to 10 amongst unaffiliated voters which is the swing voters in the rectorate in Arizona it depends on where the people go. So we will see that impact in the general elections this November.”

“I was listening to Senator Kelly talk about affordability. You know, that will resonate today. But the minute they get elected, that is going to be on them. You know this the same, and the inequality that is build into our system, today, is creating that type of inequality and until you address that issue, fundamentally, I don’t, I think, talking about affordability may be good, as a contrast message with the trump administration, but not as your own narrative for going forward,” Coughlin said.
