Trump’s declining popularity; possible super El Niño; Veterans combat loneliness

More from this show

In this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” we discussed President Donald Trump’s declining popularity among MAGA and GOP groups due to issues like the current economy, the war in Iran and immigration forces. Chuck Coughlin, President of HighGround, Inc., joined us to discuss these changes amongst conservatives and what they mean for the GOP going forward.

We also heard about a possible super El Niño later in 2026, which could have major impacts on global rainfall, temperature, overall climate and the 2026 hurricane season. Randy Cerveny, a climatologist at ASU, discussed the suspected weather possibilities and how it will impact global and regional climate.

Finally, we heard about an ASU research initiative which aims to help Veterans combat loneliness and social isolation. Nicole Roberts, Associate Professor of Psychology for the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at ASU, joined forces with Ming Zhao, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering for the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at ASU. Together they are part of a team of researchers who have been awarded a grant to develop artificial intelligence tools for edge devices that will improve health care outcomes for aging Veterans.
