We’ll follow a female Southwest Airlines pilot participating in the company’s “Adopt a Pilot” program, where a pilot teaches a fifth grade classroom STEM skills involved in flying. Then we’ll talk about getting more girls into STEM education and careers. Tirupalavanam Ganesh, Tooker Professor and assistant dean of engineering for edu cation in Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Monica Crowder, a Science/STEM specialist in the Kyrene School District, and Gabriel Escontrias, manager of ASU’s Center for Gender Equity in Science and Technology, will discuss the challenges and solutions in getting more girls into STEM.
