April 8
Gennaro Garcia, Artist joins “Arizona Horizon” to announce his new exhibit.
Artist Gennaro Garcia has a new exhibition titled, “TALAVERA”. This exhibition showcases a special collection of his latest work including various tibors, wall murals and plates, as well as debuting his newest painting. This new exhibition highlights the artist’s distinctive style, fresh voice and engaging creations. He melds his heritage and love of Mexico, infusing his work with familiar imagery and subjects that are inspired by his dual identities as both Mexican and American. Garcia loves to create and explore a variety of materials and techniques. Merging them with his iconic style that blends old and new world.
Garcia masterfully fuses his Mexico with his impeccable world-class skill, while upholding Uriarte Talavera traditions, the heritage and the artisans of Uriarte Talavera. Uriarte Talavera is known for their handmade ceramics. Majolica technique and brilliant colors of the mineral pigments, created in Puebla, Mexico. Talavera is the only ceramic in the world that has “Denomination of Origin”. Uriarte is the oldest founded in 1824 and one of the most prestigious Talavera in the world. The exhibition is on display at Royse Contemporary, a gallery in Scottsdale, until April 20th.
Garcia explains, “2018, the Four Seasons resort reached out to me for exhibit with the name Talavera. When I met with them, I told them, we should have a meadow of Talavera. Something I always wanted to do, and they agreed to that. I went for a month. I did the mural for them, and that became my relationship with mural Detalavera,” said Garcia.
How to blend the old with the new?
“That’s the beauty of that. When you go to a place to learn this technique, you think that you’re going to come with all your ideas, brushes, colors in your mind. For what you want to paint and they have to stop you because you have to follow the rules of Talavera,” said Garcia.
