DACA permit delays; genome of Indigenous Americans; newspaper collector

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Delia Salvatierra, an attorney at Salvatierra Law Group, discussed the state of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) work permit renewals in Arizona. DACA protects certain people who came to the United States as children from deportation, provided they meet specific guidelines. The program also grants work authorization.

Also, Eduardo Amorim, Assistant Professor at ASU’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change, provided insight into research on the genome of Indigenous American populations, a historically underrepresented demographic in genomic research.

Finally, Dr. Frank Caserta, a Phoenix-area ophthalmologist and newspaper collector, shared his collection of historic newspapers ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
