New legislation in Arizona; Phoenix Quantum Strategy; Carmen Lomas Garza exhibit at ASU Art Museum

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” multiple bills passed in the 2026 legislative session are expected to greatly impact Arizonans. Some of these bills include notable changes to housing affordability, small business health insurance and deed fraud prevention. Alexis Glascock, Chair of the Government Relations and Regulatory practice group at Fennemore, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the impact of these bills and the notable changes.

Also, the Phoenix Quantum Strategy is a new initiative aiming to position Phoenix as a quantum hub in the United States, adding to recent efforts to grow the area’s economy through key industries, efforts that led to Phoenix recently being named one of the top four cities for gross domestic product growth. Mayor Kate Gallego announced the Phoenix Quantum Strategy during her April 21, 2026, State of the City address. Leading this initiative is Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, former director of the National Science Foundation and now University Professor of Technology and Innovation at ASU. Dr. Panchanathan joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss ASU’s role in these efforts and what can be expected from the new initiative.

Finally, a new exhibit at the ASU Art Museum called “Picturing the Familiar” features the work of Mexican American artist Carmen Lomas Garza. The various artwork depicts the everyday lives of Mexican Americans across many generations. Alana Hernandez, Senior Curator at the ASU Art Museum, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss Garza’s vision and the future of the exhibition.
